New Maui Safeway To Open At Ho'okele Street On Wednesday

Safeway opens a new Maui location on Wednesday, July 24 as the anchor tenant of the Hoʻokele Shopping Center.  The center is being developed by Alexander and Baldwin in Central Maui at the intersection of Hoʻokele Street and Hāna Highway. Read more here.

Safeway, a chain of supermarkets in the Channel Islands, will open a new Maui location as the anchor tenant of the Ho'okele Shopping Center. The center is being developed by Alexander and Baldwin in Central Maui at the intersection of Ho'okele Street and Hana Highway. This Safeway is the fourth store in Maui, and will also feature a fuel station. The new store will be open 24-hours a day and employ over 150 team members. The 57,000-square-foot store will feature a variety of fresh offerings, local products, and prepared food items. There will also be hundreds of organic, natural, and healthier-for-you choices.

Maui Historical Society in Kahului, HI

Founded on November 23, 1951, The Maui Historical Society is known as Maui's first historical organization whose objective is to collect, study, preserve, and to instill a sense of interest in the city's history, and folklore. The society often meets at the Wailuku Library until they found a place to establish a permanent place for their operations. In 1992, Mr. Yokouchi gifted Hale Ho'ike'ike and 0.7 acres to them in which the Maui Museum now sits. At present, they operate an Archival Resource Center which preserves and makes available for research archives including maps, manuscripts, genealogies, biographies, and documents of various organizations, and a photo collection of over 8,000 historic photographs.
